60-Minute Introductory Krav Maga Class
Krav Maga Books By Gershon Ben Keren
Krav Maga Yashir Boston Head Instructor
I've been training here for a few years and I can honestly say that making the decision to start was one of the most important moments in my life. The level of instruction here is such that one will quickly gain a sense of confidence and knowledge about potentially violent situations that will give them an edge over those who may wish to do them harm. This 60-minute class is intended to prepare prospective students for joining the school, so that they can hit the ground running when they join our regular classes. Ongoing training in our regular classes is where you will learn to deal with various situations and threats/attacks, as well as build your fighting abilities. If you are interested in signing up use the button below, or read more about this class below.
Book ClassThis class will introduce you to some of the different training methods that Krav Maga uses to get you “combat ready” in the shortest possible time. Many people see Krav Maga as just a set of techniques, however a large part of what makes Krav Maga an effective self-defense method is the way it is taught. This is why in Israel the standard length for an instructor course is 29 days, with attendees already expected to be proficient in the system/approach’s techniques. Krav Maga instructor courses in Israel focus on teaching potential instructors how to teach and train people using the unique training methods that have been developed since the 1940’s. Krav Maga has a specific teaching method that differs from almost all other martial arts, and simply practicing Krav Maga techniques does not mean that you are practicing/learning Krav Maga (one of the reasons that Krav Maga cannot really be taught alongside other martial arts, such as BJJ and Muay Thai). In this class you will be introduced to some of these training methods and learn why Krav Maga training, when conducted properly, can develop an individual’s fighting skills so quickly. Head instructor Gershon Ben Keren has designed the Krav Maga Yashir system using these methods, which means we don't have to split students within the school into "levels", but can train all levels together, allowing individuals to progress at their own pace.
If you are interested in learning more about the approach that Krav Maga takes to real-world violence please click here to see a short set of videos demonstrating why Krav Maga is so effective. If you want to experience how Krav Maga deals with certain and specific types of violence we put on seminars looking at subjects such as de-escalation, dealing with street crime, and active shooter scenarios etc. If you are interested in attending one of these instead of our introductory/beginner classes, please click here. To book an introductory/beginner Krav Maga class, please use the button below, or continue reading to learn more about these classes.
Book ClassIn this class you will learn how fighting skills are developed within the system, such as drills to improve reaction time, how to control range and distance, how to move effectively, along with ways to block punches and intercept knife attacks. The different “training” and “fighting” stances will be introduced, as well as the real-life contexts in which they are used. You will also learn how to hold and strike a variety of pads safely, as well as how to generate power using bodyweight and hip/back/shoulder movement etc. Most importantly you will also learn some of the fundamental concepts and principles upon which the system is founded and how these have allowed for the system to evolve over time in order to deal with new threats and attacks.
N.B., although taught at a comfortable pace, the class is a physical one (co-ed, involving contact), that requires you to train with other individuals, and hold and hit pads etc. You will need to wear soft, workout clothing that allows for free movement and doesn’t have any exposed zippers, clasps or rivets. Our studio is fully matted and we train barefoot.
If you are unable to make any of these dates, we can provide the beginner class as a "private lesson", on a one-on-one, or small group training session. If this is something you are interested in, please conbtact us by clicking here.
The cost of the seminar/class is $25 (and includes 3 months access to our online Krav Maga short course). To take this seminar/class you will need to be an adult aged 18+. To register please use the booking form below.
