Gavriel Schneider Public Seminar (Saturday 28th September 1:30 - 3:30 pm)

This seminar is for adults aged 18+ of any experience level.

One of the integral components to the Krav Maga Yashir system is head instructor Gershon Ben Keren’s collaborations and communications with peers in both the martial arts and security industries, as well as the academic community. These collaborations help to enhance the approach and specific aspects of the Krav Maga Yashir system, and on Saturday 28th September between 1:30 and 3:30 pm, we are offering the opportunity for members of the school as well as members of the public to directly learn from one visiting individual who Gershon has worked and exchanged ideas with, over the years.

Dr/Master Gavriel Schneider (click here to see bio) will be conducting a seminar, that looks at realistic self-defense with an Israeli and South African “flavor”. Gavriel has lived, worked and spent time performing security duties in both countries (along with many others) and brings a uniquely informed perspective to reality-based self-defense. South Africa has one of the highest global crime rates, with murders, rapes and robberies occurring at an alarming rate. Also, after the U.S., it’s the country with the highest number of serial killers. Living, operating and working safely in such a country requires a certain security mindset and way of thinking. Having worked for many years in the South African security industry Gavriel is well positioned to present solutions to violence in a number of different contexts. Whilst “ordinary” crime in Israel is relatively low, the country faces its own security issues regarding terrorism, including active killer (knife and gun) incidents, and abductions etc. For two years Gavriel was a live-in student of Dennis Hanover, teaching Hisardut daily (he is currently an 8th Degree Black Belt), and attending military Krav Maga seminars/courses at the Wingate Institute. To get a better understanding of what Hisardut – meaning “survival” in Hebrew – is there are two videos below which will give you a better idea of the approach/method.
