Dealing with “Street Crime” Seminar (Sunday 27th April 10:00 - 11:30 AM)
This Dealing with “Street Crime” seminar is for adults aged 18+ of any experience level.
Street crime refers to criminal offenses that typically occur in public places/urban areas (streets, parks, transit stations, etc.), often involving violence, theft, or drug-related activities.
These crimes are usually committed by individuals or small groups rather than organized criminal enterprises, though some street crimes can be linked to more organized and formal gangs.
These incidents are often spontaneous, unplanned, and opportunistic, though they can/do follow predictable processes that allow for identification, prevention, and avoidance. Using
research and criminological theory it is possible to both understand and predict street crimes before they occur, avoiding being victimized, and the potential need to employ a physical solution.
As well as showing physical solutions to deal with a variety of threats and attacks that are characteristic of many street crimes, criminologist and security professional, Gershon Ben Keren, will also break down and explain the anatomy of such confrontations, putting physical solutions in context e.g., techniques, tactics and strategies that are taught concerning muggings and street robberies rarely take into account what real-life incidents actually look like; much of the “good advice” about what to do and how to behave is more likely to escalate a situation rather than survive it etc. Bringing his 35 plus years in the security industry along with his academic background in criminology and criminal psychology, this is an evidentially based seminar that looks at how street crimes actually occur and how they can be best managed and dealt with etc.
This is a hands-on, physical class which is suitable for men and women ages 18+. The seminar takes place at the location below (there is free on-site parking) and is open to non-members of the school as well as members.

Our training facility is fully matted, and so you should be prepared to train barefoot. None of the solutions taught to the situations and scenarios we will work through are overly physically demanding however you will need to physically engage with and disengage from others etc. The cost of the seminar is $125 (this seminar is free for members of the school, and members will receive a separate registration form i.e. don’t sign up using the form below).
